1. Why do you work with Umuntu and what is your personal motivation?
My work with Umuntu began when I was contacted about a shipment of organic olive oil. The project packed me immediately, and thanks to the shared vision with Fabio, we started working together. The collaboration does not take place as a client, but as people who share the idea of “changing the world”. My company is changing the way we produce in the most sustainable and ecological way, and together with Umuntu we can do this more intelligently, helping many people around the world.
2. What are the goals you want to achieve with Umuntu?
The objectives of this collaboration are to transform agriculture through the use of Umuntu filters, which are very suitable for intelligent and conscious use of water. At the same time, we want to promote the non-industrial production of organic products for the benefit of the entire production chain.
3. In which country and which region do we help you?
We are located in Italy, in the region of Sicily. This is a strategically good region to implement this agricultural revolution. In fact, the total value of agricultural production in Sicily in 2015 was 4 billion and 685 million euros respectively. Sicily is the Italian region with the largest agricultural area (UAA) of 1,387,520.77 ha, or 10.8% of the national UAA. Measured by the number of farms, it is the second largest country after Puglia with 219,677 companies, which corresponds to 13.6% of the national value. The average farm size is 6.3 ha.
4. Who are you and what is your background?
My name is Girolamo Campagna and I was born in 1993 in Italy (Castelvetrano). I am about to graduate in business administration and management and am the commercial manager of a company that produces and sells Italian olive oil. I am also on the board of BeliceGreen, an agro-industrial waste management company. I am in charge of 100 hectares of land and have a good knowledge of the creation and export of food and wine.
